Budgam: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Degree College Budgam organized an orientation program on NAAC Accreditation Process entitled “Envisioning and accomplishing a substantial NAAC score and grading” on 12th of July, 2025. The resource person on the occasion was Prof. Geer Mohammad Ishaq and the programme was attended by the Principal, IQAC team members, Faculty members and students of the college.
The program was presided over by Dr. Mohd Amin Malik, Principal of the College. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Malik gave an overview of NAAC assessment and accreditation process and spoke on the importance of quality standards in higher education system. Dr. Malik said that institutions of higher education have played a fundamental role in societal transformation and nation-building. He further said that in today’s global environment higher education is a focal point of knowledge, innovation and its application.

The invited expert speaker, Prof. Geer Mohammad Ishaq presented a detailed and elaborative PowerPoint Presentation on different aspects of NAAC and its revised accreditation process. He highlighted the importance of careful preparation of Institutional Information for Quality Assessment (IIQA), Self Study Report (SSR), Data Verification & Validation (DVV) and Student Satisfaction Survey (SSS) besides he threw light on Quantitative and Qualitative Metrics. The speaker gave historical perspective of NAAC with emphasis on its Vision, Mission, Core Values, mandate and functioning. He also spoke on teaching-learning, research and innovation.

The workshop started with a welcome address by Dr. Naseer Ahmed Kalis who laid down the objectives of this orientation program. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Dr. Mehpara Maqsood (Assistant Professor, Department of Botany).
